Keeping Fit with an Indoor Exercise
Bike
An indoor
exercise bike is a good way to stay fit and lose unwanted
pounds over a period of months. Aerobic exercise, as we all
know requires regular exercise over a period of weeks or even
months. The point of physical fitness is to train the body to
eat right and burn calories efficiently once
again.
Using the exercise bike
to promote longevity
A holistic physical
fitness program doesn’t limit itself to the use of just one
exercise machine. To make your use of the bike more fruitful,
follow these simple steps to prepare your body for the long
haul:
-
First things
first- drop the bad habits. Smoking, drinking and
wild nights out are generally never good
for the body. Substitute bad activities with
healthy ones, like hiking or practicing your
creativity through the arts.
-
The next
change involves your everyday diet. It’s easy to
shift to the good stuff. Drop the red meat and
the excess beer and with wholesome grains, fruits
and vegetables. More fiber means less cholesterol
or low density lipoproteins.
-
The final change
would involve a commitment to regular exercise. Regular
exercise need not be strenuous- 30 minutes a day is
fine. You can even distribute the 30 minutes into
6-minute increments.
Safety measures when
using the indoor exercise bike
As
with all exercise machines, the exercise bike is not exempt
from potentially harming its user. That’s why it’s up to you,
the fitness enthusiast, to use the machine
properly.
-
Mind your
posture. Your back should not be bent or crooked.
Instead, “stack” your back like a pile of coins
and keep it upright. The upper body should be
relaxed, but not slouching.
-
Remember to
exert enough effort with every concentric
movement. Don’t use an indoor exercise bike
that’s been set with almost no resistance. That’s
simply pointless.
-
Wear the proper
shoes when using an exercise bike. Regular gym shoes
would do just fine. If you’re purchasing new shoes,
make sure you buy airy, comfortable
shoes.
-
Don’t strain
yourself too much when using the bike for the
first time. Limit your first set with the
circling gears to 15 minutes- to get a feel of
the machine and how powerful it
is.
Taking care of the
indoor exercise bike
The maintenance of an indoor bike is
actually quite simple- just keep the gears and chains
well-oiled. Also, protect the machine from any form of
moisture, and keep the pedals clean.
